Meet The Band: Les Breastfeeders

With Les Breastfeeders' raw, gritty power no one can deny they're a great rock band. And after ten years together they're still going strong.

Then why isn't the English-speaking population more privy to their amazingness? That's beyond us. With new album Dans La Guele Des Jours giving us ear orgasms we felt it was about time this ignorance changed. So we recently asked frontman Luc Brien a bunch of questions. And you can download/stream a track off the new record, right here. He and the band will be playing the Garrison on Friday.

How do you describe your music to someone who hasn't heard you before?
French rock n' roll. A bit of pop with a garage smell.

If you could open for one current band that you haven't played with before, who would it be?
The Monks or the Chesterfield Kings.

What's the worst album you own?
A Christmas album by the cheesy québécois singer/comedian Robert Marien.

Who, in your opinion, has/had the best facial hair of any band ever?
Charlie Watts circa 1966 (see the back cover of the Got Live If You Want It LP).

What would be your all-time, all-star supergroup?
Keith Moon on drums, Arthur Cossette (Les Jaguars) on lead, Brian Jones on the rythm guitar, Carole Kaye (the Wrecking Crew) on bass guitar, Eric Burdon on vocals, Jan & Dean doing the back-vocals and Johnny Maldoror on the tambourine.

What was the craziest live show you've ever seen?
Les Wampas (from France) can do a really crazy show.

What was the craziest live show you've ever played?
I can't choose JUST ONE absolute crazy show... We always want to do the craziest show on earth... so it's always crazy!!

What's your favourite song to play live? Why?
Hum... I don't know... People always get high and wild when we perfomed "Ça ira" but it's not my favorite. I think it change all the time. It depends of what's happening during the song between the group and the crowd.

Who was your favourite band (or artist) when you were 12 years old? Do you still like them?
Maybe it was the Beatles or Dion and the Belmonts?? I still love 'em.

Say, for some strange reason, all the music in the world is going to be destroyed, but you can save all the songs from one decade. Which decade's records would you save?
The sixties. Are you surprised?
