Meet The Band: Capitol 6

Meet Vancouver synth poppers Capitol 6. They mix the spirit of the psychedelic '60s with the fuck-you-who-cares attitude of the '90s. And their latest album, Pretty Lost, just so happens to have dropped on Light Organ Records a couple of weeks ago. They've been touring the West Coast all month , but vocalist and guitarist Malcolm Jack took the time to sit down and have a little chat with us before they cap the tour off back at home in the Rain City with a record release party this Saturday night at the Princeton Pub.

You'll find a steam of their entire album below.

MP3: "Cold Ride" by Capitol 6

How do you describe your music to someone who hasn't heard you before?
Actual Rock n Roll music?

If you could open for one current band that you haven't played with before, who would it be?
I'm loving everything that White Fence is doing right now, totally inspiring...

If you could play one venue you've never played before, what would it be?
We're currently booking an all jumbo stadium tour right now so I'm looking forward to ticking some of those off the list.

Your all-time, all-star supergroup? Dylan in 1966 singing with Johnny Marr on guitar and maybe I could play drums or bass or something?

What's the worst album you own?
Probably some Dave Matthews band or something. I can't believe I would tell the internet that!

Say, for some strange reason, all the music in the world is going to be destroyed, but you can save all the songs from one decade. Which decade's records would you save?
I'd go with the 2010's... there's still 8 more years of music I've never heard!

What was the craziest live show you've ever seen?
Herbie Hancock on a beach in Mexico!

What's your favourite song to play live? Why?
My favourite songs live are really just the ones that are played differently than the recorded versions, that's fun.

What was the first record you ever bought? When was the last time you listened to it?
The first 'record' (cassette) I ever bought was probably KLF White Room or something... super punk

John, Paul, George, or Ringo?
 Johnny-boy.

Meet The Band is a regular feature where we introduce you to bands we like. You can find all of the rest of them here.
