Meet The Band: The BB Guns

This is a week full of incredible shows. And the highlight of Friday night is going down at the Horseshoe, where three of our favourite bands are taking the stage as part of Whale Tooth's party in celebration of the release of their new album: Whale Tooth (obviously), The Paint Movement and The BB Guns. The 'Guns play awesome garage-y retro rock and we cannot fucking wait to see them live tonight, when they take the stage around 9:30. And in the hopes of getting you as excited as we are, we figured we'd get the band to answer a few of our silly questions. So here you, from vocalist Laura Hermiston, guitarist Alan DeVee, bassist Clint Rogerson and drummer Dan Arget.

You can check them out on Facebook here, on Bandcamp here, and get all the about tonight's show here.

How do you describe your music to someone who hasn't heard you before?
Laura: surf-garage
Alana: 60s girl group with a twist of surf punk
Clint: awesome.
Dan: Surf/Garage/Pop/Punk Rock with a delightful hint of Country guitar twang'.

If you could play one venue you've never played before, what would it be?
Laura: Glastonbury Festival
Clint: the moon
Alana: the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago
Dan: On the moon with Clint.

Your all-time, all-star supergroup?
Laura: Link Wray and Dick Dale on guitar,  Wanda Jackson on vocals, Keith Moon on drums, my dad on bass, the bb girls as back up singers.
Clint: Ronnie Spector, Link Wray, Peter Hook, Richard Wright, Gene Krupa.
Dan: John Fogerty, Geezer Butler, J. Mascis, and John Bonham

Just try to imagine what it would sound like for a second. Cool, right?

What's the worst album you own?
Laura: Greatist Hits CDs are pretty embarrassing to own, right? I have lots of those.
Clint: Right Said Fred Up.
Alana: Coldplay Rush of blood to the head on cd. Someone gave it to me.
Dan: Coolio — "Gangsters Paradise" (single). It also has an instrumental version, perfect for when I feel like rapping.

If you absolutely had to get a face tattoo of album art from one record, which record would you want to have on your face for the rest of your life?

Laura: Blondie "Hanging On The Telephone" (the one with the yellow top and just her on it)

Alana: Aladdin Sane (the lightening bolt that's painted on Bowie's face). I already have it as a tattoo on my forearm ... so why not?

Clint: Burton Cummings "My Own Way To Rock"

Dan: Beck — Odeley

What was the first record you ever bought? When was the last time you listened to it?
Laura: Ace of Base (my mom got it for me when I was 4). It was my first tape of my own. "I Saw The Sign" (aka "I Stole the Sun")
Alana: The first cd I bought by my self with my own money was Rubber Soul.
Clint: Right Said Fred Up. Playing it now.
Dan: Smashing Pumpkins — Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness. It's probably been a couple months but I'm listening to it rightnow.

If you could switch places with another musician in some type of "Freaky Friday" type incident, who would you want it to be?

Laura: Sharin Foo from The Raveonettes. So I could play with Sune Wagner.
Alana & Charlotte (keys and vocals): Allison Mossheart
Clint: Whitney Houston
Dan: Snoop Lion.
