NXNE 2011 Photos: Paper Lions @ Sneaky Dee's by Adam Bunch

FRIDAY - Somehow, we'd managed to convince ourselves that we were ambivalent about Charlottetown's Paper Lions. Fuck that. Paper Lions rock. The indie poppers began to convince us of our ignorance back at Canadian Music Week in March, when we caught their afternoon set as part of the Live Near Bellwoods series. It was last Friday night's show at North By Northeast that sealed the deal, though. They blew the crowd away during a set sandwiched between Ruby Coast and Sheezer on the bill at Sneaky Dee's: loud and raucous, with shout-along choruses. If you missed them, you're in luck. They're touring Ontario for the rest of the month and will be back in town this Friday (June 24) to play the Horseshoe Tavern.
