Let's Be Clear, Ron Paul Fucking Sucks. Here Are 20 Reasons Why

Every single one of the candidates currently running for the Republican nomination is a walking disaster. But one of them, Texas congressman Ron Paul, seems to be getting a disturbing amount of support from liberals. Mostly that's because his nut-job libertarian views happen to not sound so nutty on a handful of issues. He wants to end the War on Drugs. He is against the death penalty. He would not support a constitutional ban on gay marriage. He was opposed to the War in Iraq and wants to end all American military intervention abroad. All of that sounds pretty good to us left-wing types — downright refreshing coming from a Republican. Some progressives have claimed they'd rather vote for him than for Obama. Even Occupiers have sung his praises.

But if you're a liberal who supports Ron Paul, you either haven't been paying enough attention or you're out of your fucking mind.

Here are 20 reasons why:

1. He wants to repeal the Civil Rights Act. That's the 1964 law that made segregation illegal and outlawed discrimination on the basis of race, colour, religion, sex or national origin. Paul claims it infringes on people's freedom. If a restaurant or hotel wants to ban African-Americans, he believes they should be allowed to. As he put it in a speech to Congress: "the forced integration dictated by the Civil Rights Act of 1964 increased racial tensions while diminishing individual liberty."

2. He's also against the Americans With Disabilities Act. That's the 1990 bill passed by the first President Bush, which followed up the Civil Rights Act by making it illegal to discriminate against someone because of a disability. Paul wants it gone, too.

3. He is against public health care. You know how you think Americans are crazy because they can't do any better on universal health care than the watered down bill Obama got through? Well, President Ron Paul would do much, much worse. He thinks that in an entirely private system, poor people would have all of their needs taken care of by charitable doctors who would be willing to work for free. Ron Paul, by the way, is a medical doctor.

4. He wants to dissolve the public education system. He promises to eliminate the Department of Education entirely and leave the question of whether to offer any public education at all up to local governments. He calls public education "socialist" (which we actually agree with, but he, unlike us, doesn't think that's a good thing) and says, "I preach home schooling and private schooling." According to an interview, "The Department of Education has given us No Child Left Behind, massive unfunded mandates, indoctrination, and in some cases, forced medication of our children with psychotropic drugs. We should get rid of all of that..."

5. He thinks global warming is a hoax. In his words, it's "the greatest hoax, I think, that's been around in many, many years — if not hundreds of years". But that's just the tip of the crazyberg. Ron Paul winning the presidency would be a disaster for the environment. He wants to completely disband the Environmental Protection Agency, abolish environmental regulation, and lift, it seems, just about all the restrictions on drilling for oil. Including in National Parks.

6. He doesn't believe in evolution. When asked about it in 2007, he was pretty clear: "I think it’s a theory. The theory of evolution. And I don’t accept it as a theory."

7. He's against federal safety standards. So that means no federal testing to make sure the products you're sold won't kill you. Or that, say, the airplane you're on won't fall out of the sky. In fact, he's in favour of completely disbanding the Federal Aviation Authority, which does stuff like hire air traffic controllers to make sure planes don't collide in the air. He has argued against the Food and Drug Administration, which makes sure pharmaceuticals are safe to take. ("People weren't dying from bad drugs before we had the FDA," he has said, "I mean, it just didn't happen.") And forget Ralph Nader's successful crusade to enforce the wearing of seat belts. Ron Paul is ideologically opposed to the federal government making sure cars even have seat belts. "I mean, do we need the federal government to tell us whether we buy a safe car?"

8. He is radically pro-life. And vehemently opposed to a woman's right to choose. He signed the "personhood pledge" making the rounds on the current campaign, suggesting that abortion should be legally considered to be the same thing as murder.

9. He wants to do away with all foreign aid. Paul's isolationism sounds good to liberals when he's talking about his refusal to invade other nations. But the United States government, under President Paul, would send no funds to the developing world to help combat AIDS or famines or natural disasters or anything else.

10. He would pull out of the United Nations. He openly claims the United Nations is part of a plot to create one world government. "If we continue down the UN path, America as we know it will cease to exist." And not only does he want to withdraw the U.S. from membership, he wants to evict the United Nations from their headquarters in New York.

11. He's against the minimum wage. Instead of making sure that people are paid at least a minimum amount for their work, he believes companies should be allowed to pay whatever ever they like, with the law of supply and demand determining just how little. Lower wages, he argues, would actually help poor people by creating more jobs.

12. He is a gun nut. Our eyebrows are already raised by anyone who claims that having firearms is a "God-given right", like Ron Paul does. But he doesn't stop there. He wants to repeal the legislation that requires a background check when you buy a new gun — you know, to make sure you're not, say, a  fugitive from justice, a violent offender, or currently stalking someone. Back when there actually was a ban an assault weapons, he was, of course, against the ban. And now that there isn't, he wants to make sure Obama doesn't get the chance to bring a new one in.

13. He believes we're waging a war against Christmas. In his words, he claims that "the elitist, secular Left" are waging an "ongoing war against religion" to "transform America into a completely secular nation, a nation that is legally and culturally biased against Christianity." And as if that wasn't crazy enough, he adds, "Christmas itself may soon be a casualty of that war."

14. He wants to get rid of income tax. He is against taxation in general, of course, which most liberals would disagree pretty strongly with. Especially when it comes to the income tax. It's generally recognized as the most direct way to make sure that poor folk don't have to give up more of their earnings than rich folk do. But Paul wants to get rid of it entirely.

15. He voted to build a fence along the border with Mexico. In fact, he's pretty radical when it comes to the whole question of undocumented immigration. He has backed off on the fence issue (because, he says, it might be used to keep Americans in) but he has also argued that Emergency Room doctors shouldn't have to treat immigrants without documentation. And that he wants to end birthright citizenship, which says you're an American citizen if you were born in America, whether or not your parents were citizens themselves.

16. He's against the Occupational Health and Safety Act. That's the law that gives Americans the right to a safe workplace, and makes sure an employer doesn't force employees to work in a dangerous or unhealthy environment. That, Paul figures, is unconstitutional. It limits the employer's freedom to put workers in harm's way.

17. He wants to U.S. to seize control of the Panama Canal. Paul's isolationism doesn't seem to apply to the Panama Canal. The United States signed a treaty back in the 1970s gradually ceding control of the canal to the government of Panama. But Paul wants to overturn that. Because if the U.S doesn't seize control of it, he claims some hostile regime might seize control of it instead.

18. He thinks interstate highways are unconstitutional. You're probably getting the impression by now that Ron Paul thinks that pretty much everything the federal government does is unconstitutional. That's because Ron Paul thinks that pretty much everything the federal government does is unconstitutional. He has even argued against interstate highways, saying Eisenhower knew he was bending the law when he built them. Paul figures they're a violation of states' rights.

19. He seems pretty homophobic to us. Paul actually gets a lot of credit for being the one Republican candidate who isn't homophobic, mostly because he says that the federal government has no business telling people what to do in their private lives and he's come out against a constitutional ban against same-sex marriage. But it's really not that clear where he stands. His reason for being against the ban is that he believes marriage laws should be left up to individual states or to the church. When some states began to pass laws legalizing same-sex marriage, he fought to make sure other states wouldn't have to recognize those marriages as legal. He's also for don't-ask-don't-tell and has voted to de-fund any organization which "presents male or female homosexuality as an acceptable alternative life style or which suggest that it can be an acceptable life style". As for his own personal attitude toward the gay community? Well, an ex-staffer who defended Paul against charges of homophobia did so by claiming he only knew of two times Paul did something homophobic: the time he swatted away a gay man's hand rather than have to shake it, and the time he refused to go to the washroom at the same time as a gay guy.

20. And he seems pretty racist too. Paul has been haunted by accusations of racism pretty much the whole campaign long. And with good reason. He used to publish newsletters, under his own name, which said unbelievably racist things. Things like, "I think we can safely assume that 95 percent of black males in that city are semi-criminal or entirely criminal." And, "If you have ever been robbed by a black teenaged male, you know how unbelievably fleet-footed they can be." For years, he refused opportunities to distance himself from those comments and those newsletters. Now, finally, he has, saying that they were written by other people, without his knowledge, and that he doesn't share those views. But that's not the only thing that makes us worried. More recently, he complained about the Transportation Security Administration hiring visible minorities to do airport screenings. Again, in his own words: "We quadrupled the TSA, you know, and hired more people who look more suspicious to me than most Americans who are getting checked... Most of them are, well, you know, they just don’t look very American to me."

So, yeah, as liberals, we wouldn't exactly have high hopes for the Paul Administration.

Seems to me that your issue on the historical question is with Ron Paul, Warner.

As a far lefty that would vote for him I would like to point out that it's not what he would want to do it's about what he COULD do. In our current political climate he wouldn't get much done and the majority of republicans and democrats wouldn't support much of his agenda if any. Trust me, put him or a fool like Bachman in power and the next election would be totally won by democrats because he would scare everyone into voting against the right. That's the motivation that many on the left have that support him. It's not that we agree with his stupidity, we think it would destroy the right.

You are so blind and most of your statements in here are completely false. If you want to continue on the path that we have been on...year after year after year....continue to vote for people that do the same things over and over and over. You know what social media is telling you and nothing else. I suggest you do your homework before you talk such nonsense.

Stop using the term "pro-life." He is ANTI-CHOICE. We're all, assumedly, pro-life. We want life. We are also pro-choice. Want the ability to choose what to do when it comes to abortion. When we use the term pro-life, it makes the opposite appear to be anti-life. We're not that. This is why liberals/progressives are losing the language lead - we use language that defeats us. We are pro-choice. Ron Paul is ANTI-CHOICE.

"Racism is simply an ugly form of collectivism, the mindset that views humans strictly as members of groups rather than individuals. Racists believe that all individuals who share superficial physical characteristics are alike: as collectivists, racists think only in terms of groups. By encouraging Americans to adopt a group mentality, the advocates of so-called "diversity" actually perpetuate racism. Their obsession with racial group identity is inherently racist.

The true antidote to racism is liberty. Liberty means having a limited, constitutional government devoted to the protection of individual rights rather than group claims. Liberty means free-market capitalism, which rewards individual achievement and competence, not skin color, gender, or ethnicity." ~Ron Paul

Naive people like those who were impressed by this moronic blog post think most of the problems of the world can be fixed with brute force (i.e. government). There are poor people in Africa? Have the federal police rob Americans at gunpoint and then send African dictators the money (#9 in the article). I want safe products, so I should have the government throw you in jail for making any products that don't meet certain standards (#7). Some people get discriminated against--rather than look for the underlying causes of discrimination, let's throw the people who do it in jail (#1)

What progressives need to realize is that you can't solve every problem by pointing a gun in someone's face and saying, "Do as I say or else!" Ron Paul realizes this, but progressives are so used to solving problems with violence that when someone suggests they use another method, progressives assume that this person doesn't want to solve the problem at all.

When people have valid points to make about an article, they give specific examples. For example, Warner pointed out a specific thing he thought wrong, showing both what he thought as well as what the article said.
When people have no valid points to make they just speak in generalities. 'This is all false'. for example, giving no example at all of even one falsehood. These types of people often go on to tell people they need to do research, without even telling them what to look up (probably because of the same deficiencies that make them unable to provide examples to validate their points). They don't appear to understand how vacuous their posts are.

Your average person, especially your average American does not generally think that Paul's ideas are too radical. The controversy over RP is perpetuated by pundits from both parties who feel threatened by anyone, left or right, who challenges the status quo. A lot of the things being said about RP remind me of what establishment republicans and democrats said about Ralph Nader. I don't mean to say that all of Paul's ideas are great, but almost none of them are truly controversial.

1. refer to my earlier quote from Paul.
2. he's not against people w/ disabilities. he's against federal laws that restrict property rights. many small businesses are shutdown for failure to contract wheelchair ramps before fed. regulation deadlines. wasted time and money.
3. many americans are against government run public healthcare. the government isn't the most efficient service provider and quality of service would suffer along with rises in price of specialist care.
4. same as with healthcare, the government only devalues its institutions. it is well known and documented that the k-12 system is deeply flawed.
5. ron paul, along with many climate scientists, do not trust the reports of a quasi-governmental IPCC. environmental abuse is protected by the EPA and its regulations/subsidies. paul believe property rights/laws can curb pollution.
6. is a stretch. he's a doctor, i'm sure he's learned cladistics.
7. free-market would take care of shoddy products in the manner of consumer choices. plus, don't forget about state governments. they can regulate as much as they want inside their own state. ron paul believes federal government should get out of the way. too much bureaucracy leads to too much wasted time.
8. two words: state's rights. i mean, don't you watch the debates? he's answered this question a zillion times.
9. foreign aid is synonymous with propping up dictators and aiding violent reactionists. example, we payed mubarak 4mil a year to leave israel alone and look where that got us.
10. united nations is lawless. it is the antithesis of freedom. just look at how many sanctions they impose and how many of them backfire. plus the UN has admitted its goal of population reduction.

that's all i want to do for now. please do more research before you write such short-sighted, ill-informed articles. the rest of us will remain pragmatic as you spin the truth to tailor your sensationalism.

So 14 trillion in debt, bailouts, wars, empty factories, empty homes, and empty wallets, all the result of our foreign policy of the last 10 years is ok???? Who else is going to clean up this mess? All the other candidates are bought and paid for just like our President, and we can only expect 4 more years of the same under any of them, except Ron Paul.

I actually do think that it makes some strategic sense for liberals to vote this guy into the White House, despite, or actually because of some of these things. Certainly, many of these positions are totally against what liberal humanists stand for. What we are missing is that the system may be beyond fixing through voting. If this is the case, then I would argue that Ron Paul is the perfect candidate for us. Not only would he destroy the Republican Party, but he would likely destroy the US Government and the Economy if he were to be elected. Ron Paul is primarily an Anarchist. While Anarchy is not a viable long term strategy for governance, it is certainly the best generator of revolution. We need to build a new government and a new economy. That is pretty hard to do in this systems of mass media brainwashing and massive government corruption by the aristocracy. I am quite certain that if Ron Paul were elected and got his way that this would mean the end of our government and the total collapse of our economic system. This would be a terrible thing for many people. However, in the long run, it seems the quickest path to the kind of real revolution that we need toward getting democracy back in this land. Once real democracy reigns again, the People will get what they want, which is regulated capitalism with moderate welfare and civil rights. The People themselves want such egalitarian policy almost overwhelmingly. The Right would have no luck brainwashing people without their huge corporations firing threat, massive media and PR firms, or their billions of dollars in PAC and other moneys that openly corrupt our political processes and destroy all democracy. The People are certainly capable of building a new and better federal model, and I think that they would do so with the guidance of real experts in things like Systems Theory, but only when actually put to the challenge. That challenge would need to be the absolute failure of this corrupt system, which the complacent and fearful masses dare not truly challenge of their own individual volitions. That failure would be much more likely under a ‘President Ron Paul’. Let them destroy our social protections. Let the People see what Anarchy looks like. They will not forget why we have a government or why we need a real society for generations after such suffering. They will build a new and better system. They have already suffered from the corruption of aristocratic tyrants and are totally sick of that. Let them see Anarchy; let that Anarchy destroy this corrupt regime. The People will not tolerate such a state of affairs for long and will rebuild our government as a functional democracy again. Elect Ron Paul for total collapse.

I think many of these points are shallow and don't elaborate on details. Ie the income tax... Obama has proposed similar things with his consumption tax alternative. This article just makes it seem as if RP doesn't want any taxes. Not true. In addition RP wants to reduce the clutter of our current convoluted tax system. Not to mention the elimination of the fed which is the main source of bailouts, interest rate fixing, and currency devaluation.

A good bunch of reasons to elect him, although he isn't a racist elitist. He is for freedom, but lazy Liberals would prefer shackles as long as they come with free meals and meds. I think that is imprisonment. Ron Paul is for freedom. So am I, and a free ride carries a heavy freedom cost. Try to reforge a free country and resist Global government. Defend Liberty and Justice for All.

You obviously do not understand his positions. You simply took his topics and gave your own thoughts on it, without explaining how or why those bad things would happen if Paul got his this ideas pushed into law.

You simply state "Ron Paul will do this thing that sounds bad."

You know, its really sad when people/organizations like you put false statements about Ron Paul and/or use your inaccurate interpretations of what he stands for. Do you all want WWIII? Do you want to end up like Communist Russia or worse? How much money are you making for brainwashing otherwise intelligent people? I pray for your souls, and I am sorry none of you that have put together this disgusting article have any integrity as human beings. If we end up staying with Obama or ending up with The Three Stooges (Gingrich, Romney, Santorum), I am pretty sure you will be very sorry you misled people about Ron Paul...eventually you will suffer the consequences that us average Americans have and will suffer though. I pray for all of you, I really do.

The message I interpret from Ron Paul is that he feels THE STATES should handle ALL OF THESE ISSUES you bring up RATHER THAN THE GOVERNMENT handling these issues. Just because YOU interpret his perspective differently should not make the message "right" or "wrong". There should be no dinstinction between "right/left, liberal/republican/democrat/conservative". That duality is what creates differences BETWEEN the people and forces them to fight amongst each other rather than recognizing that the Constitution protects our individual rights. that is what Ron Paul is fighting for. That's just my perspective. Hugs. :-)

On 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 16, 18 and somehow the douchebag that wrote this article left out that he's "against social security", I reply that Ron Paul is on record stating that each of these is unconstitutional, which THEY ARE, but that they are already in place and it would be too difficult and cause too much harm to remove them.

5) The concept of "Global warming" has so many holes in it that it's proponents have now decided to call it "climate change" because the entire premise of global warming has been disproven. Google "climategate" for one.

6) So what?

7) That is straight up, a lie. As a strict constitutionalist, he sees this as a State's rights issue, which it clearly is.

9) That's an awesome idea! We should be investing in our country and not propping up racist/genocidal Israel and third world dictators across the world.

10) Again, this is a great idea. Anyone educated in the subject feels the same way.

11) The government has no business being involved in the issue. Every economist worth his salt, in the world, feels the same way.

12) "Gun nut", wow there's a phrase meant to create an emotional response and avoid logical investigation. Our founding fathers gave us a 2nd Amendment to make sure that the people would always have at their disposal a method to overthrow tryrants.

13) Beneath my response.

14) WE NEED TO!! The country is NOT run on income taxes. The Reagan administration's Grace Commission Report showed that ""100% of what is collected is absorbed solely by interest on the Federal Debt ... all
individual income tax revenues are gone before one nickel is spent on the services
taxpayers expect from government."
-Grace Commission report submitted to President Ronald Reagan - January 15, 1984 ". PLEASE, PLEASE, everyone reading this, google that fact.

15) Sounds good to me.

17) I have never read that, anywhere.

19) He's for allowing gay marriage, so quit your lying...

and 20) This has been refuted, over and over. The president of the Austin Chapter of the NAACP, who has been friends with Dr. Paul for over 20 years, has stated that he is not racist, which he is not. How about you youtube his actual words on race relations?

Things like this article are so hard to read.
What you and so many others have failed to realize is why Ron Paul disagrees with certain laws/acts/policies etc. The federal government has no right to tell you how to live your life. He was against the Civil Rights Act because it destroys the principle of private property & private choices. The same goes for most of your arguments. Not because he is a racist or pushing his Christian views onto you. The "Liberal" and "Conservative" labels you seem so happy to use have an entirely different meaning today because the government IS making those decisions for you. Religion, or any personal belief system should never be a basis for a federal law, nor should someone feel that they are being compromised because of one. I have spent my whole life in ignorance; thinking elections were a battle between the liberal democrats and CNN against myself, conservatives and Fox News. I'm am ashamed that it took so long for me to do my own research and thinking, and realize I have been fed lie after lie. You are doing the exact same thing to others. The bottom line is that if Ron Paul isn't elected, it won't matter who wins. You seem to have forgotten that Obama didn't bring the change he promised; Mitt/Newt wouldn't either. If you put in maybe a 5% effort to actually find some facts you would quickly know why. Ron Paul and his supporters are fighting for EVERYONE'S freedom. I hope you see the light and start fighting too.

The biggest problem with Paul (well, with Libertarians and Ayn Rand worshipers in general) is they fail to understand a basic: WE THE PEOPLE ARE THE GOVERNMENT! The United States Constitution declares us to be, in the first 3 words, A COLLECTIVE, and anything that is against the government is really against our collective will, and therefore is treason.

Eryrcoedengoch said...

I'll take this one step further: those who are against One World Government are also traitors because the Founding Fathers CLEARLY envisioned a future United States of Earth, for which our Constitution is a template. Why do you think we have 30 States? Why not 50 Provinces? That's because (to paraphrase Mr. Romney),"A State is a country my friend."

Good summary of Ron Paul’s positions and the logical results of them. It won’t convince his supporters, but then logic won’t convince those looking for a messiah. And as for those liberals supporting him, hoping a nightmarish libertarian presidency will cause America to wake up, I think that strategy will backfire, and if it doesn’t, it will certainly cause far too much suffering along the way.

I see that you fixed the “seeding” error. You should also correct point 16 to use the bill’s correct name: Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA for short). If you want to put more work into this, you could add links to speeches, debates, and even his Web site showing where he supports these positions. Maybe link to respected economists, legal opinions, etc. that show how his positions don’t match reality (everything’s unconstitutional!) or will harm society.

Ron Paul's goals are no different from what you or I would like to see in this country. Better education for all (not just rich), prevent racism, better and more affordable health treatment, no occupation of foreign countries, no government secrecy and better standard of living.

Some people observed correctly that Ron Paul is not just a man that is running for president. He is more concerned about people understanding his message and why he is promoting his ideas than being in white house.

There is a learning curve associated with understanding where he is coming from.
Learning curve in history, economics and foreign policy.

That is why he gets blank stares from people when he suggests his ideas.
Who wants to spend their time reading or watching video documentaries or lectures on history and economics?

This post is written by an individual who did not try to understand. He took snippets from headlines tied them with his assumptions about how government and market works and ranted.

If he just googled for "Ron Paul Civil Rights Act" or "Ron Paul Disabilities Act" and spend time listening to an explanation, he would have come to a very different conclusions.

Anyway, I'll comment on those points specifically later. But yes, all of them are misrepresentations on what Ron Paul stands for.

Dear Anonymous,
I read with great interest your incessant posts regarding this article. I laughed a bit. I chortled. I even showed some friends your increasingly ad hominem arguments. It was delightful. One question, though, do you scream out what you're typing as you type? I have this vision of you sitting at your computer growing increasingly agitated as you type. Eventually you're screaming at the monitor, head and heart full of righteous rage at the feeble minded world around your brilliance. I long to see this for myself!

I worry, though, that your heart or your head might one day explode with the barely expressed rage within. I strongly advise you to meditate, breathe deeply, and learn to enjoy all of the freedoms and wonder that the world outside of your anonymous rants has to offer.

This article is riddled with fallacies. Most of this article is opinion being portrayed as fact or an assumption being portrayed as fact.

There is not a single source cited for any of the quotes. Not a single point made here is valid or founded.

Remember everyone, anyone can post something on the internet. Just because you read something, dose not make it true.

I'm sure the author of this article knows that this is both hyperbole and propaganda because they did not include there name.

something like this could damage the career of a real journalist or writer

Don't like his ignoring the mothers choice of her body/ or individual tastes in sex/love (as far as marriage I don't care provided we get a simple tax and all deductions for any specific situation like 3+ kids, 1 adopted, 1 blind,etc...goes right into the toilet) Same respect the corps shouldn't be able to write 2 days used depreciations of 10k on a machine off either.

While a lot of those are true, they are vague and underexplained. If you listen to the explanations and reasoning, rather then reading a few sentences, you would see that most of the things are that list are a good thing. Plus, aside from bringing our troops home and slashing offensive spending (while increasing/maintaining defensive)there isn't much he can do without the approval of congress. Though with him as president congress couldn't try and pass bills that have no benefit to the interests of the American People.

As a public school-goer, I have to say that his public education policy is kind of scary. Private education is fine, but the public school system makes all info more easily accessible. I thought he was the only good candidate, too. It's a shame that we have to decide which evil is lesser.

The power of Congress to collect an Income Tax is the 16th amendment of the Constitution. A president does not have the ability to repeal that by himself. Also, it was President Dwight D. Eisenhower who developed the legislation for the Interstate Highway System.

What sources were you using to write this?

pretty outdated, proof for 1 and 2 (if u can prove it then no one should vote for him)? private healthcare is not a bad thing, Private education is better then free education. Global warming may or may not exist. As per God he just means the same thing I do, evolution is there but god created the universe. He's only against some federal safety standards that delay new products for like 2 years due to testing. Don't most americans own some form of gun already? War on Christmas,

Most of these points are moot, he just knows that most of our Federal agencies are unconstitutional, and inefficient. There are far too many ideologies in this country, I think being able to change locations to a place that suits you and your families' beliefs would be refreshing.

Steady on mates ~ America, as a viable nation state, IS in trouble.
What are YOU doing to HELP? ~ not HINDER ~ her recovery?

Globally, Goldman Sachs et al encourage nation-states to perpetuate the illusion of 'independence' & 'self-determinency' while they structure 'loans' & debt swaps to keep those 'borrowing' governments in hoc, in perpetuity. They ONLY way to get out of this spiraling cycle is to 'default' & go 'bankrupt', like Iceland did. At present, the American government will not do this. Ergo, continued enslavement to 'international' banksters.... Doubt this? Watch movie ~ 'Inside Job': but more importantly, keep educating yourselves, be prepared for MORE totalitarianism not less as careening indebted governments try to stave off restless attacks by a grumbling populace.

Personally, I believe Ron Paul is doing a great service to his country. He is not perfect: but he believes in the ideals of SELF governance before all else. If you learn to look after yourself without harming others on route ~ society as a whole & humanity in general MAY survive for a few more thousand years.

All species come & go. Mankind is no exception. Ask any 'god'.

I can think of two types of people that are afaid of a Ron Paul presidency, (taxpayer funded) illegal drug prohibitionist's (police/union prison guards) and, illegal drug profiteer's, (dealers/cartels). When the profiteer ends up in prison, he becomes a Ron Paul supporter, a little too late to save himself though.

Climate change is a hoax? Yeah. Ok. Must just be our collective imagination that the famed snows of Mt. Kilimanjaro are no more, right? Those glaciers melting? All in your head!
And I'd really like to know how you think that POOR PEOPLE are going to afford private education! Oh, I see...poor people will get schooled at home by those who are probably not qualified to do so...rich kids will go to the private schools they can afford...and the rich v. poor gap will grow even wider. That's fantastic.

And for those wishing a Paul presidency so that our economy, etc. will fail, shame on you! First of all, that's pretty much treason...if you don't like it here, go live in Somalia. They have the gov't free country you so long for. Just watch for the war lords. Second of all, how simplistic to assume that you can wipe out an entire country's economy and it will just....get rebuilt somehow? What if it doesn't? Are you prepared for that?

"So 14 trillion in debt, bailouts, wars, empty factories, empty homes, and empty wallets, all the result of our foreign policy of the last 10 years is ok?"

No, it's not OK, dumbass. The article is stating that RP's solutions are NOT an acceptable set of answers.

This statement highlights the logical fallacy Ron Paul's supporters jump to in every instance above. The road map is: things are currently bad, so Ron Pauls' solutions must be better because they're different. That's plainly stupid when phrased as such.

This is like saying, "A patient has a degenerative heart disorder. Most doctors say treat it a certain way because there's a chance it may get better. Ron Paul says stab a pencil through the patient's aorta. We'll do that because it's a different alternative that at least has a guaranteed result."

If you don't think Ron Paul's policies will have the same result on our country as stabbing it in the heart with a sharp stick, you clearly haven't followed history or engaged your brain in anything more than sucking up theoretical hogwash.

Anonymous said...

"Ok so let me get this straight. All these people want to live in a free country, right? But at the same time they want to be ruled by our mighty government."

Nope. Again, wrong. People want a government that serves its people, is responsible and responsive to them, and one that advocates for everyone...not just the elite.

The error Paulbots constantly make is believing that the opposition to this lunatic supports the status quo. The truest horror of this guy's campaign is that people hear "FREEDOM! RIGHTS! HELL YEAH!" and they blindly believe that, supporting slash and burn war on the only safeguard we have against being raped by big monied interests. And there's zero ambivalence about Paul's stance: his policies are solely geared toward trussing you up, bent over and wide open, for plunder.

It's amazingly ignorant that dupes like you can't even be knackered to look up HISTORY, specifically stating in well documented terms, showing that every major economic collapse in our country's span came from voting for policies like Paul's.

Give the choice, any sane person should call for making our government accountable to we, the people, and then turning it loose to undo the slave collar that's been slipped around our necks under the rhetoric of liars like our current batch of politicians.

The only issue I have with articles like this is the proof and where/how this information was retrieved and how it is presented. it is very easy to take what someone else has said and twist it, even just a tiny bit, to make it seem like they said something different. That's why it is best to get information from several DIFFERENT sources. I can't tell you how many times I have seen a news article online and within minutes it is changed to be worded differently. It all boils down to think very carefully about the information you have received, read between the lines and past how the person/people is presenting it, and make your own decision. Unfortunately with how the government is run in this country, it's basically choose the lesser of the evils presented.

Anonymous said...

Just because he voted against something, it's not because he is against the issue - just the involvement of the overreaching federal government. Power should return to individual states. Do your homework!

The author of this crap should read our Constitution. Most of what Ron Paul stands for is upholding our Constitution. Many items listed here in this egregious article whereas Ron Paul takes a stand against are Unconstitutional. These Unconstitutional acts and now laws enacted by our government should all be abolished, Ron Paul wants to run this government by the Constitution as it was written for the people.

Anonymous said...

There's also a video of him circulating saying that the South was right during the Civil War and the North should have tried to buy off slave owners with government funds. He came off as an apologist for slavery, which was incredibly insulting given how he's supposed to be this great champion of liberty.

By the way, thank you for posting this. Paul doesn't get anything near the scrutiny he deserves because it's "cool" to be a Paulite. It makes you intellectual, smart, and hip. Hmm...Lot's of anti Ron stuff out there. He wants to end the federal government's role in controlling our lives. This includes all federal bills with state mandates such as the patriot act. I'm sick of the non choice between republicrats and demagogues, and it is frustrating that anyone is loyal to a party that gave us the biggest fraud to win a national election. Name me one promise obama has kept? We need someone in office who will do something that is actually within the scope of their job description: strip away the unconstitutional authority currently embued in the executive branch. That is what is dangerous. I am far more concerned about the executive branch ending habeas corpus than alarmist fingerpointing. Could just be me, but I feel that if I am dragged from my bed in the middle of the night, I at least deserve a public trial. No other candidate within the two party system claims to give two shits about these very basic things that are turning us into unappologetic fascists. There are better candidates than Ron Paul, but they are labeled as not having a chance by default for not sucking the two-party cock. People who claim to be "liberal" or "progressive" and vote for any of the unscrupulous people who have sold out enough to be backed by the blue machine are seriously misguided. It amazes me how misconstrued people's views of Ron Paul are. He may be everything you claim him to be, and he may want to repeal the things you say he does, but that does not tell the whole story of who he is or what he plans to do as president. The mere fact that he understands the power allowed to the executive branch separates him from the majority of candidates. Everyone do yourselves a favor and vote for someone who doesn't where a blue or red tie, including Dr. No. There are, in fact, people who do want to serve our best interests. We don't have to choose between the lesser of two evils.

A concerned person said...

I don't agree with everything Ron Paul stands for, but I believe he's a pull in the right direction. He challenges us to question what should and shouldn't be mandated at the federal level. But if you'd rather not think about it, you can just label him a racist and continue perpetuating the status quo by regurgitating cliche liberal talking points used to counter cliche conservative talking points.

Wow, this is a great site. I'll come back here more often to get my daily dose of the "mental illness of liberalism". How pathetic must your life be to be so dependent on government?

What liberals don't understand is that all these powers and rights they want to grant to the government don't reside with "their guy" (i.e. Obama), it resides with the office. So guess what liberals, someday Obama (or some other liberal) is going to be voted out of office and some hateful, racist, neanderthal republican is going to get into office and then they will be in charge of your health care!

I was against GWB when he gave us the Patriot Act for just that reason (well, except I didn't trust Bush either).

Wake up, Liberals. The world is collapsing under the financial weight of all your failed "nobel ideals". We can't afford you or your policies.

I'll end by telling you something that liberals can't grasp, but I'll tell you anyway....capitalist like myself have absolutely no need for liberals. But liberals don't exist without capitalists like me. Have a nice day!

And while I didn't click all of them, I clicked a few to see if they checked out, and all of the ones I clicked seemed pretty credible. Also, for everyone upset that this is "uninformed" or that the person who wrote it "doesn't understand"...again, no. The person who wrote this clearly understands and, given the sources, IS informed--he just doesn't agree with Ron Paul's stances. And the article is clearly, CLEARLY geared towards people who have similar stances and values as the writer of the piece. Obviously, people who agree with all of this stuff should vote for Ron Paul. But for people who largely support democrat/socialist/green/etc stances, the writer is merely stating how Ron Paul's do not fall in line with those views. Many liberals like Ron Paul, but they may have only heard of a few of his stances on various issues. I, myself, didn't know most of this stuff about Ron Paul (though I was never going to vote for him anyway. Because I knew he was for small government and leaving most issues to the states and that's not what I believe is best for all situations). So this article was very informative. And informed. And sited. And clearly directed at me, and not people who knew this shit and already agreed with it.

This article is complete rubbish. As a matter of fact your arguments appear to be in line with establishment republicans more than it does intellectual liberals or free thinking independents. Half of which assert that Ron Paul intends to overturn all legislation that is out of line with his ethos of free market economics and individual freedoms granted by the constitution. Your support for politicians who are interested in upholding and expanding the power of government over the people is duly noted.

I love how anyone who thinks the government has gotten way too involved in our lives, is a bat shit crazy loon who should be unelectable and "fucking sucks". Wake up people!! The government IS WAY TOO involved in all of our lives and in state law. Wake up: YES, our school systems are failing and are vastly under funded... YES, affirmative action is UNCONSTITUTIONAL and happens to be quite RACIST to caucasian AMERICANS(you know those who are supposed to be created EQUAL, not those created at a major disadvantage due to government laws who tip the scales in other ethnicities favor)!!.... YES, the war on drugs is foolish, drug addicts will continue to get drugs, and dealers will continue to sell it too them.. lets get some of that money in taxes!!.. YES, I could go on and in much more depth to all the reasons Ron Paul is the only candidate that will truly be FOR THE PEOPLE, and the ONLY candidate that DOESN'T "Fucking suck".. but you'd probably be too dim witted and conformist to understand.

You don't know know how baby's are made? Learn.
Corporations run the government now, Ron wants people to run it.
As far as minimum wage, when it goes up you squeeze out the midle.
Nine dollars to start and twelve at the top is not a good system, a lot of jobs for teens don't camand that type of wage. How aboUt five for the bottom and and a mean income close to twenty?

More than any other candidate Ron Paul generates controversy, ironically because he adheres to the non-aggression axiom, which states that no one has the right to initiate violence in the form of physical aggression, theft of property, fraud, or breach of contract. All of his positions follow from this non-aggression principle, including his belief that governments should be so instituted as to support and enforce the non-aggression principle. Progressives, on the other hand, believe that government should be empowered to do good whenever and wherever possible, but they don't have a coherent definition of what "good" actually means, and their attempts to expand that definition lead them to believe that even attitudes can be legislated by the force of the State. One can applaud the idealism of the progressive, but the implementation of that idealism leads to a centralization of power which inevitably does bad things to individuals! Thus, Ron Paul could hold the belief that a hotel owner has the right to refuse service to a black man based on the property rights of the hotel owner. He would not himself personally do this to another human being. In this hypothetical example the black man does not have an inherent right to use the hotel owner's property, and for the overwhelming plurality of society today, the action of refusing service based on race is repugnant because ATTITUDES have changed---and not because of The Civil Rights Act but because black activism by such luminaries as Martin Luther King and Malcolm X (toward the end of his life) and others opened the eyes of Americans to the suffering the blacks have suffered because of this prejudice.
To believe that The Civil Rights Act was responsible doesn't seem correct to me. These issues brought forward by this article are important and very complicated but I think the author should be aware of Dr. Paul's philosophical position first and refute the merits of that principle.

For example, no one really has the RIGHT to health care because you would have to force someone to take care of you without compensation and through the actions of the State to compel treatment. One of the reasons health care is out of the reach of many, many Americans is because of the devaluation of the dollar caused by the confiscatory and expanded federal state acting in collusion with a fraudulent banking system that creates money ex nihilo, a form of robbery of the citizens.

These issues are very complicated and cannot be sorted out ad hoc style but only by reference to some set of principles, of which Dr. Ron Paul has plenty, in contradistinction to almost all of our political leaders, in all branches of the Federal Government.

Free market economics are as failed a system as Communism. The fact that Ron Paul is fighting for a nebulous idea of "freedom" doesn't change how completely wrong-headed not only his individual positions, but his entire political philosophy, are. I'm a civil libertarian to the core, but economic libertarianism would be disastrous to this or any other country. Just saying "the free market will do it!" is as unsatisfactory and silly an answer as saying that a magic fairy will do something.

We tried laissez-faire economics. They DIDN'T work, and even a cursory read of something like The Jungle shows just how far the excess of unchecked capitalism can go. Given the availability of information in this day and age, we may not get to SUCH an extreme point of negligence and atrophy, but you'd be foolish to assume that economic libertarianism is necessarily superior to any other economic system, for there's certainly no proof of such.

Who really CARES about the size of government, in absolute terms? We should be fighting for an efficiently-run government and society, regardless of the size of the former (assuming that we're not living under demonstrable tyranny, of course). This idea that "big government" is inherently bad is as dumb as the Communists demonizing capitalism despite its clear advantages in terms of innovation and forward progress.

What we need is a TRULY mixed system, not this monstrosity of a government that we currently have. We need the push for innovation inherent in a capitalistic economy mixed with the governmental oversight to check its worst excesses and ensure that we do not allow our distribution of wealth to become too unequal. Additionally, it's perfectly reasonable to expect the government to provide services like health care or education, as such should be something that any citizen in need of them should have access to without having their pocketbooks pilfered.

in short, fuck extremism of all stripes and political positions. And yes, I include Ron Paul in that, much as I might appreciate his position on things like the War on Drugs.

Also, having a "right" to health care doesn't imply that the government is holding a gun to somebody and forcing them to treat you. Does the right to education - which we have - mean that anybody is getting a gun held to them and being forced to teach? of course not. What it means is that, if you have children, those children have a right to receive education without being charged money beyond that which is collected through taxation. Similarly, the idea behind "a right to health care" would be that if you are in need of health care, then the government would give you access to it, either through payment of services in a private system or running the system itself. Neither is a form of tyranny, and to suggest that the government getting involved in such somehow impinges on our freedoms when it manifestly does not do so and in FACT gives greater freedom, both personal and economic, to millions of people without access to health care, shows that you are falling back on a talking point and not really thinking about the issue at hand. Now, we can get down to brass tacks and question the efficiency of various systems and attempt to work out a method of implementation that would not harm the quality of the health care system that we already have, as well as how to figure such in a nation as diverse as ours, but the possibility for such a right being implemented is MORE than feasible.

I would love more than anything to live in Jacque Fresco's socialist wet dream. Problem is, this is America. It is also a democratic republic, which means I need to meet my fellow civilians halfway. I don't care how much people hate Capitalism, we are a capitalist nation and that is not changing anytime soon. No one who gets near a place of influence isn't a successful capitalist.

So often the answer to widespread corruption has been more regulation and creating more governing bodies. There is no major industry (medicine, commerce, energy, education, agriculture) that doesn't have a revolving door between government regulator and industry. More regulation does not stop them, it only gives them the power to make laws in their benefit. This is why pizza is a vegetable.

What bothers me about this list is that it focuses on superficial social issues like rights, but doesn't research the socioeconomic impacts of the problems. It talks ideally but doesn't look at the history of the reality.

For example, the Board of Education is a failure. American students are some of the dumbest in the developed world. We have entered a new era or remote access that is changing the way education works. Home schooling and private program learning is on the rise. And part of Ron Paul's plan is to give families credits towards schooling. You may think public schooling is a good thing, but it forces everyone to work at the same pace consuming the same cookie cutter program that evolves at a snails pace.

There were anarchists and socialists at OWS ready to exercise our right to tear down the government and rebuild. Why not let Ron Paul do it from the inside?

If people want real change, it's not gonna come from the same routine of calling big brother to protect us from their friends. We need to learn to mobilize and protect ourselves via community.

I used to spend a lot of time at my local occupy movement. But it angered me to see how many people had mob mentality and chanted how they were against the banks, and never realized that the federal reserve bank is the true enemy. Occupiers get mad at TARP funds/bailouts and Goldman Sachs, but they don't realize that the TARP funds were only 700 billion or 0.7 trillion. The federal reserve printed 9 trillion in new loans to the banks that OWS hates. That devalues our money. Also isn't it weird that TARP funds happen after Obama was elected and Goldman Sachs was one of his main campaign contributors? The author needs to do a little more research before publishing such nonsense. They are only seeing things at the surface, probably as a result of being brainwashed by mainstream media.

Many Ron Paul defenders on here. Ron Paul wants to liberate us of government, yeah it may sound good to all of you, but are you sure you'll be in a better position if he gets his way? There will always be people in control, if not the government, the rich (more so than they are now). Can you guarantee that wages would rise and/or there would be an increase in jobs without minimum wage? Of course not. Greed is an ugly but very common trait. Are we willing to risk a few or many lives due to shoddy products/work because we have no regulations? If America is "sue happy" now, I can only imagine what would happen without regulations, except most manufacturers would be overseas, making it a nightmare. We need m ore regulations in some areas and less in others, not to completely eliminate all of them. I'd agree with him on his stance regarding civil rights/liberties if it weren't for the fact that we still do have so many injustices regarding race in our country. There is still segregation, there are still school districts busing certain ethnic groups to certain schools out of their district, and there are still employers who overlook qualified people based on sex, color, etc. These laws are in place because people couldn't be trusted to do the right thing, if you're reading this, then you have probably read a lot of the racist comments that often flood articles. The internet has certainly brought the cowardly racist to light. I don't know how any of you can be okay with destroying education. If it's left up to the states, and the greedy politicians, all that will be left is private school and home schooling. Private school means middle and low income households probably won't be able to afford education for their children, and homeschooling means that one parent will have to stay home (in todays economy, that is becoming less and less of an option for most). Education is important for the future of this nation. This man wants to be president while detaching himself from every issue possible, why do we even need a president then? In the end, it doesn't matter, he'll never succeed at anything he's proposing, because our government is set up to make sure of it. He's full of hot air.

Thanks for the article. I'm tired of these dumb, racist asses defending the right of corporations and other businesses to practically rape us, and then complain that they're being forcibly "coerced" by having to pay taxes. Poor cry babies...

Also, you didn't mention his take on the Civil War.

Thalia said...

Ron Paul claims to be against "coercion" but by coercion he only means anything that might cause a corporation or an upper-middle class, straight, Christian, white, male some harm. He is so blind to the views of others, that he thinks that it's not coercion to be forced to give birth, it's not coercion to be forced to put up with sexual harassment, it's not coercion to be forced to sit at the back of the bus, and it's not coercion to be forced to work in unsafe conditions. You see, none of these are likely to impact an upper-middle class white doctor like Paul, so there is clearly nothing to worry about (in Ron Paul's world view).

I find the universal failure of Randians (Randbots? Paulites?) to actually refute these points with facts instead of swearing to be unsurprising.

I just wanted to kind of clarify (maybe- I may be off) that there are multiple Civil Rights Acts and he's spoken out against 1964, but; when he does it seems that he's speaking of the content of 1968. The ADA and other protections against discrimination related to people with various disabilities you mention is more related to CRA 1968, though. Not that I rely on Wiki for all of my info but you can get a quick run down of the general topics each addresses here

Most of the things you are listing, your not taking the time to understand WHY. Your assuming he's racist or doesn't like people with disabilities. He opposes that the government is restricting so much on the people and wants it left up to the states to do so. The government is taking our rights slowly by slowly and he wants our personal freedoms and rights restored to us.

1. He is against the Civil Rights Act because it destroyed our Property Rights which are arguably the single most important right we can have in this country. If you like the surveillance state and the fact that No Knock warrants and other egregious violations of our constitutional rights are possible now then by all means, go for it. Besides, why would I want to give my money to a company who hates me? I mean seriously? There were ways to make this happen without enacting the Civil Rights Act as it was written. Leading by example is one of the best ways.

WannaBeAscending said...

2. See point #1. A business owner's private property is his own. That is what strong property rights are for. Just like he says, if a business owner doesn't want a handicapped person to come into their store for whatever reason you have every right to peacefully protest this business. There are other ways to handle these problems with a free market economy. Unfortunately we as a nation have decided that it would be best to handle discrimination through legislation and since no legislation is perfect, this is not a good way to handle an important issue like this one.

WannaBeAscending said...

3. And he has never accepted Medicare/Medicade, instead treating these patients for FREE. What do you think happened to people before the medicade/medicare system was in place? I guess the Shriners hospital and other major charitable medical facilities in the United States are fake? If we didn't have a federal tax code maybe we could donate our money to charities as we see fit. But screw freedom of choice. You would much prefer MANDATED CHOICE. Do you honestly want to give control of your body to the federal government? If so why not try China. I hear they have some good programs over there.

WannaBeAscending said...

4. Tell me one good thing the Dept. of Education has done? Again, our local governments could tax us more if the Federal Tax Code was dissolved. We didn't have a federal income tax until 1913. What do you think happened before then? Why do we have higher percentage of drop out rates these days? No Child Left Behind was a DISASTER! Tell me how standardized testing has improved our educational system. What is wrong with being able to choose what kind of education your children get? I don't see how personal freedom of choice is a bad thing? I have to pay my school taxes even though I homeschool my children. Why is that fair to me? I still have to go out and buy their books and learning materials, and pay for an additional classes. Why should all kids be FORCED to be EXACTLY the SAME? I thought liberals were supposed to be smart. Maybe I am missing something here.

WannaBeAscending said...

5. I can't say that I agree with drilling in national parks, but tell me one good thing the EPA has done for you lately? How clean are all these superfund sites getting? Any progress there? Maybe if we throw more money at them that will fix the problem. Where are we going to get the money? Why not get our property rights back and SUE These major corporations who are doing the polluting? As it stands these companies just get small fines and walk away from the problem. Tell me again how the EPA is doing their job to protect us again? Just because a governmental agency sounds romantic doesn't mean that it is doing its job to protect you properly. They have been neutered by all presidents and the only way to solve the problem is to bankrupt the companies through litigation who are causing the problem in the first place.

WannaBeAscending said...

6. Who cares if he doesn't believe in evolution? The original evidence was fake anyway. He doesn't want to prevent you from being able to believe in evolution, or prevent your kids from learning the theory of evolution. So why does this matter to you?

WannaBeAscending said...

7. Once again, if an airline had a plane fall out of the sky then the FREE MARKET WOULD PRETTY MUCH CRUSH THEM OVER NIGHT! Tell me that you would go fly on a plane for a company that has fallen out of the sky? If you do you are a moron and deserve to die. Companies have a vested interest in ensuring their products are safe. If a company is making or promoting an unsafe product then DON'T BUY THEIR PRODUCTS. Yet you SOMEHOW think that product safety is in better hands by a governmental agency that can be bribed. Even Ralph Nader is a Ron Paul supporter. So why are you against him? Besides the fact that you are a socialist?

WannaBeAscending said...

8. He wants to reverse Roe v. Wade. So what? Let the states decide. New York and all the other liberal states would have abortion. Others probably wouldn't. Maybe you are for the planned parenthood who is committing genocide against minorities through recommended abortion for teen pregnancies?

WannaBeAscending said...

9. If we didn't have a federal tax code then we could donate and send our money anywhere we wanted to send it. Why is it fair for you to MANDATE TO ME WHERE MY MONEY GOES? It is not fair, and that is not a free society. There are just as many bad things that happen with the money we give these nations, arguably way more bad than good comes out of it. We give our money to these poor nations and the rich dictators end up taking this money or food or whatever and feed their troops with it. There are plenty of examples where this money/foreign aid is mismanaged. Donate to the Red Cross if you want to, but don't make our broke government go down the tubes because you want to save some little kid in Africa. I want to save them too, but I want to be able to donate my time and money how I see fit.

WannaBeAscending said...

10. If you think otherwise you are delusional. They will get rid of our constitution. We will not be allowed to own any property. Just look up Agenda 21 if you think I am crazy. Maybe you want that to happen here, but I am COMPLETELY AGAINST IT. That doesn't even consider Codex Alimentarius or any of the other totally disastrous policies from the UN. We can have free trade and be friends to all nations. We don't need the UN to create legislation that over rides ours.

WannaBeAscending said...

11. If you don't like the salary offered, don't take the job. If enough people don't take the job then they will have to offer a higher wage. There are plenty of people who would be happy to take a job with a lower wage than minimum wage right now. Maybe you think it is better for the government to pay people to NOT work instead. This way everyone can be EQUALLY POOR. That is the UK's model after all, it is so successful why not move over there instead?

WannaBeAscending said...

12. If guns kill people then spoons make people fat. Look, he is against the legislation because it invades our privacy. I can go out today and buy a gun on the black market just as easily as I could walk into a store and get one. So don't preach about how these gun laws make everyone safer. Some of us value privacy over safety. After all we are all going to die one day.

13. If it is not true then why does it matter? DO you think he is going to introduce legislation that forces you to celebrate Christmas?

WannaBeAscending said...

14. DO WHAT? You are insane! How does the income tax prevent poor people from having to give up more money than rich people? Seems to me it is the other way around. Do you even realize why the Income Tax was created? It was created to pay the interest to the Federal Reserve Bank for printing our money. Why not do a little research on the Income Tax. States could tax more, or have a income tax. But the federal government has no authority to do it. Do you know that only 13 elected officials voted on the constitutional amendment that instituted the income tax? Do you know that this was secretly called for a vote on Christmas eve, in 1912, before the advent of high speed long distance travel? At least do a little research before you start making silly comments like these. He is against FEDERAL TAXATION. Not STATE TAXATION. At least get your facts straight.

UGH. I give up. If you want socialism move to the UK, or Canada even. Don't force your views on me. Our country is a Republic. Not a democracy. It was setup this way for a reason. Wake up and get a grip. I personally want the freedom of choice to choose how me and my family survives the crazy world. I don't want to give my rights to the federal government for any reason. Asking them to give me money is slavery plain and simple. Once the federal government gets involved they dictate what you can and cannot do. That is not kosher with me.

To the other Anonymous who stated that because RP believed that Lincoln should have bought off the slave owners rather than fight the Civil War and this therefore made him an apologist for slavery, clearly you don't have a clue about history. This proposal to buy the slaves was brought before Lincoln by the Peace movement of that time period. It was the same plan that had been used by the British Empire to end slavery. They suggested a Civil War would too bloody, greatly hurting the Country and that the cost in $ would be enormous. Slavery was over. Everyone had already agreed that slavery would not be allowed into the western territories. The going price for a slave was $800. The plan was since only a tiny fraction of people in the South even owned slaves the government would purchase every slave and free them. The elite plantation owners would then use the new capital to hire the newly freed citizens. Slavery would collapse and finally be made illegal. Understand the majority of Southerns who were small farmers, business men and workers in the cotton mills wanted and supported this plan. They didn't want to send their sons to die fighting for the elite rich plantation owners. However Lincoln nixed that idea and forced the issue of states rights starting the Civil War. In the end the War cost 620000 individuals lose their lives. More Americans died in the Civil War than were killed in all the major US wars since then. In terms of money it cost $75 Billion (2008 dollars), plunged the South into decades of poverty, caused a 100 years of racism we're still dealing with and was the beginning of the National Debt. War is generally not a good answer to a problem. Get an understanding of history or you're bound make the same mistakes over and over. Ron Paul has the guts to explain history to people even to those brain dead. Get over your public education that lied to you, pickup a book, start learning. Then make informed clear choices about the candidates.

Anyone who wanted to get elected to any position of power in this country, in order to save it or reset the agenda would have to fool all the retarded people. Our Dept of Ed is set up to retard, not enlighten. Get rid of it. About the wars: Nazis picked on EVERYONE in order to get the resources and establish world domination. I could go on but I think that those unretarded among you could take it from here and go on and on like I can.Why did not the writer sign the work? Because he did not want to be forever embarrassed for the flimsy nature of it. Astounds me that we witness the largest case of government corporate welfare in history that caused this major recession and people want to give government more power to "protect" them from the evil corporations? Corporations are already in government. They make laws to protect themselves not us. You think the Civil Rights Act was just about rights? Like the 14th amendment was just about slaves. Or like the Clean Air act was about cleaning the air. If you think this you have no idea what is going on.

Everything you listed in this "bad things" list are all reasons I would vote for him... He is simply pointing out that states should have control.. not the federal government.. it's like the CEO of a company trying to spend all his time managing the whole company down to the mail room.. it doesn't work, and he will over extend himself... The federal government is an ill-equipped CEO, putting their hands in the states' business, and treading on moral and social issues that they should have no business being a part of.. Education has fallen drastically since No Child Left Behind.. and in case you weren't aware, there is still rampant racial tension in America.. Just because we elected a black president does NOT mean there is still no racism in america.

None of these reasons explain WHY? Why don't you do some research about why he feels the way he does about these topics and see if you still have an article to write.

This whole story is hilarious. Have you ever heard of the saying "your twisting my words around"? Or "your puting words in my mouth"? hahaha. Actually listen and study what Ron Paul wants to do and has said. Dont go by the media bs. For the past week I have commented on several articles that show that some of these so called "reporters" really need to go back to school or something. I can report better than they can. Anyone can. All they have to do is give the whole story like they are supposed to.

The people arguing against this article are either stuffing their finger sin their ears and yelling, "NO PROOF, NO PROOF!" at the top of their lungs (showing their illiteracy when it comes to anything that may disrupt their infantile fantasies) or proving exactly how racist, sexist, and/or just plumb crazy they are.

Ok this comment was just ignorant. Again, act like a reporter and stop writing things down based on assumption and opinions, like this article has done. Get the whole story. Yes anyone can agree with this article, every news channel, including the biased fox channel, says the same thing, but get the whole story. People who can't study these topics for themselves will believe anything they are told. Its a fact that most people are uneducated on this topic because you never hear anything else but the bad side.
...listen to the full story and then you can base your opinion on FACTS.

It's true rp wants to make your life tougher, but better, everyone else wants to do the opposite, because it's easy to give away money and it's easy to lie about why. A corporate shill is lot the answer. Do alittle research on adam smith and recognize freedom is about trusting people to act in self interest. Right now, corporations are beating us down and a smart alternative is to change course

He's also the only candidate who's served his country, the only doctor, who believes in private enterprise (not to get rich, but to help people) and local gov, along with ending repressive federal mandates, the only one who's been elected 12 times (the most) the only one who's different than both sides-meaning un-buyable, educated on economic theory (sound money principle) and upholds the constitution. Any opinion of him needs to parse him from the others who all drink the same handout cool aid, (bought and paid for.) Ending the fed is genius, I would've never thought of it without his help. The same is true for other agencies that are beyond repair. Grow up and take care of yourself and fight for your piece-not the piece that you expect to get for free, the one you were put on this earth to try and earn. Peace is his motto and freedom, so give him a chance, he couldn't do worse than these recent puppets. I trust him to follow the constitution, and if you think tees a better document (or candidate to adhere to it), support that instead, but realize this may be our only chance to do right and make progress, hence the great from "progressives", hence this post.

Ron Paul and his fanboys don't understand the meaning of integrity.

If you're going to take a position on something, TAKE IT. Don't lie about it. The cowardice of these people -- who need to just own up to this stuff being true -- is just astounding.

Have some backbone. You're willing to have people die of treatable, preventable illnesses so you can make a boat payment, fine. That's how you feel. You want us to be a theocracy, and women to be barefoot and pregnant, and children to be uneducated, fine. Own up to it. Have some balls.

It would be helpful if this article addressed Paul's philosophy as a whole instead of just listing 20 out of context "reasons" which only allude to the context.

Everybody is missing a crucial piece of information here. Obama isn't a pushover or corrupt, he has failed to get the things he promised done because of Congress and a dumb mistake people made in the last Congressional election. For some reason, everybody thought that Obama and the Democrats would be able to fix everything in 1 or 2 years' time, which of course proved to be completely unrealistic. However, when 2 years came around and everything wasn't completely fixed, everyone simply concluded that Obama and the Democrats weren't doing what they said they were going to do and voted REPUBLICANS into Congress!!! OBAMA AND THE DEMOCRATS WERE IN THE PROCESS OF DOING EVERYTHING THEY SAID THEY WOULD DO, IT JUST TAKES A WHILE TO CHANGE AS MUCH AS THEY WERE GOING TO!!! The new Republican majority in Congress then did what any sensible person interested in politics should have realized they were going to do, they caused the current governmental stalemate! BECAUSE WE FILLED CONGRESS WITH REPUBLICANS, OBAMA AND THE DEMOCRATS REALLY WERE NOT ABLE TO GET ANYTHING DONE IN THE NEXT 2 YEARS OF THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION!!! If we hadn't voted Republicans into Congress, and the Democrats had kept their majority, I'M SURE EVERYTHING OBAMA ORIGNALLY SAID IN 2008 THAT HE WAS GOING TO DO WOULD HAVE BEEN ACCOMPLISHED OR ALMOST ACCOMPLISHED BY NOW!!! My main point is this: IF YOU WANT CHANGE, FORGET ABOUT THE REPUBLICANS, WHO ALREADY PROVED TO US (before Obama) THAT THEY CAN'T FIX OUR COUNTRY (heck, they, via Nixon and Reagan, were the ones that got us into this mess in the first place!), AND VOTE FOR OBAMA AND A DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS SO THEY CAN FINISH WHAT THEY STARTED ALREADY!!!!!!

p.s., #8 in this article is a GOOD thing. Abortion is murder and anybody who tells you otherwise is either Planned Parenthood or brainwashed by them.

i would accept all of those and i am radically militant and black, but his extreme measures would make this country alot healthier than barrack wall street obama and the other clan of culprits making up the washington mafia, the clintons and bushes and those asses...go ron paul

Thank you for this article. I am a Ron Paul supporter, and though you're making some gross exaggerations of his points and extrapolating End-of-the-World "What if" scenarios, I will admit you make some good arguments.

As for education, you yourself admit the failure of our federal programs. End them. They can't be fixed as long as lobbyists for trade unions, textbook publishers, and standardized test corporations have sway over DC bureaucrats who have never been teachers.

As for evolution, thank you for the link to Ron Paul explaining not only his position but how unimportant he believes it should be in determining the presidency. He is totally correct when he says "neither side has any idea of the exact time and place our Creator made us and started the universe". Well, that's absolutely true, isn't it? And flies in the face of people like Harold "how's that end-of-the-world thing working out" Camping, who claims he knows exactly when we were made and when we'll be unmade. Oops.

I think anyone who lives in a mining state such as West Virginia or Kentucky knows exactly how much faith we can place in states to do the right thing environmentally, were we to get rid of the EPA. Jobs will trump environmental concerns every time. It's criminal how the EPA has been gutted, defunded and flouted with impunity up to now. Getting rid of it will still kill hundreds of thousands more Americans each year.

Ron Paul calls himself a scientist. I mean, I know he's had medical doctor training and I know there are some scientific applications there, but he's a physician, not a scientist. He also lacks the intellectual rigor to embrace the theory of evolution... So, I guess we can call him a creation scientist..?

Let's also not forget the fact that he does not believe in Separation of Church and State. Even George Bush believed in Separation of Church and State.

Anonymous said...

Note how every single Ron Paul supporter comes in with guns blazing, and even where they bring up points which may be valid in Dr. Paul's defense, ~insist~ on being children about it.

I don't even get that from supporters of other GOP candidates.

You can't just take a general position and interpret it in the most fear-mongering way possible. This article is lazy at best but likely just a flat-out lying piece of yellow journalism. Just because one doesn't want things being controlled by the FEDERAL government doesn't mean that one advocates the abolition of the thing completely. Getting rid of the Department of Education doesn't mean he wants to do away with schools. Getting rid of income tax doesn't mean there will be no taxes. Poorly written, poorly research, flat out lies issued by the Dumbrella.

Christina said...

"Jason Friedel said...

The message I interpret from Ron Paul is that he feels THE STATES should handle ALL OF THESE ISSUES you bring up RATHER THAN THE GOVERNMENT handling these issues."

Um, the States are also "governments" and would then have the power to enact any hair-brained, ill-thought-out scheme they wanted. And we've seen this happen! Look at the racist nonsense coming out of some southern states in response to immigration. Passing the buck to individual states is a sure-fire way to destroy the country, not save it!

Ron Paul wants to dismantle the system, which I agree is fundamentally flawed. But giving up government control will just lead to anarchy and death - literally! I don't want it left up to the free market to decide how much toxic material can be in my food or how much lead can be in children's toys. Wake up, people!

Anonymous said...

The fact that the author doesn't provide the rationale for why Ron Paul believes the things that he does doesn't make the things that Ron Paul wants any less dumb or fundamentally naive. Just shouting out nebulous concepts of "freedom" and "Constitution!" without taking the time to understand what those things really mean in a societal context makes you sound paranoid, at best, and delusional, at worst.

Pro-tip: a social context ALWAYS necessitates some loss of freedom, both voluntary and involuntary. The fact that Ron Paul wants to shift control away from the federal government to state and local governments doesn't necessarily make him a better candidate, especially in an increasingly global and mobile society. His conception of what the government is and should be is founded on a Jeffersonian ideal when, in reality, history has borne out Hamilton's idea of the necessity of a strong central government to a far greater extent. Government can fuck things up, sure, but so can private corporations, especially in a capitalistic system where wealth can be distributed unequally and allow those at the top a disproportionate level of power and influence. Do you REALLY think that there's a particularly big difference whether the person fucking you is a federal bureaucrat, or a state/local one, or a corporate drone, or does it make you feel good to think that you'd have "more freedom" just by shifting the place and nature of the power that governs you?

Economic libertarianism is as unfeasible as socialism because human nature will cause the exploitation of any system that focus too much on greed/personal agency or too much on equality and fairness, at least as long as we have limited resources and must work just to survive. A mixed economy, one with both capitalistic AND socialistic elements, is the only feasible option at this point, until some heretofore unheard of third option develops.

So, to repeat something that I wrote earlier: fuck extremism of all stripes.

Whoever wrote this is the most ignorant person ever. Taking everything for bits and peices of what others are saying and putting it all together into bullshit. What the fuck. Ron Paul is best choice for president. He wants to enforce the constitution. Which the past one hundred presidents havent. Power. All they want. Ron Paul wants the constitution to be followed as it shouldve been this whole fucking time. If you people dont vote for Dr. Ron Paul you are wanting to have all of your rights taken away from you. Simple as that. Read. Learn.

As a response to your list:

Biased bullshit.

Ron Paul racist? His greatest hero is Martin Luther King! He does not support governmental control of behaviour, as it gives the government yet another tool to abuse! Why do all the idiots have to misunderstand everything he says?

As for the newsletters...

Do some fucking research, he has completely denied writing them. Why would he publish them under his own name, and later deny writing them?
As it is not completely impossible to regret, and lie, use your fucking head. Why support Martin Luther King and the black revolution while hating blacks?

And he believes that global warming is a hoax?

Far from it! He believes that it is overhyped, as it is a natural change in climate that we are going through. Human pollution certainly is bad, and it does make a negative change, but as of now, there are more important things in the world that could whipe us all out! First and foremost: War. We can't negotiate how much another country can produce while pointing guns at them! When he called it a hoax, he was referring to the overhype. He stated that it was a very real threat in the same interview! Do some research. (There are many interviews, so check all of them, can't hurt to be completely assured!)
