NXNE 2011: Dum Dum Girls @ Lee's Palace by Stephanie Cloutier

FRIDAY - The immensely popular Dum Dum Girls played to a very packed audience at Lee's Palace last night. Hopefully, some of you readers weren't stuck in the insane line-up that stretched a few blocks outside. But a visit from the Los Angeles-based group will always garner attention, especially when they're sharing the bill with new music favourites, Cults. It made it one of the must-see shows at the NXNE festival.

It's easy to admire how cool as cucumber these ladies are on stage. We, the audience, couldn't contain ourselves: We danced, we screamed, we jumped to songs like "It Only Takes One Night" and "Bhang Bhang, I'm A Burnout".

Just like their throttling, high-energy sound, their set ended far too quickly. Chances are we won't be without our girls for very long - they announced a new album to be released this September so expect a tour out of it.
